1. Is the mattress suitable for all seasons?

Yes, the mattress is an ideal choice for maintaining comfort throughout the year as it keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer due to the natural insulation properties of the wool inside.

2. Is the mattress suitable for people with wool/lanolin allergies?

The mattress is perfectly safe since the wool and lanolin are encased by the ticking fabric, which can be organic cotton or linen, that prevents direct skin contact and minimizes the risk of allergic reactions. Additionally, our wool is GOTS and Oeko-Tex certified which guarantees the absence of harmful toxins or synthetic materials that could potentially trigger chemical allergies.

3. How would you describe the difference in feel for the 3”, 5” and 7” thickness? How to decide which thickness is the right one for me?

The 3″ mattresses can be described as firm, while the 5″ and the 7″ ones offer more mid-firm support. The right choice for your mattress thickness depends on your sleeping position, body weight, and bed base. If you’re a side sleeper, a thicker mattress (7-inch) may provide better support for your hips and shoulders. Back or stomach sleepers might prefer a medium thickness (5-inch) for balanced support. Heavier individuals may benefit from a thicker mattress for added support, while lighter individuals may find a thinner mattress more comfortable. Thicker mattresses may work better on a platform or slatted bed frame, while thinner ones can be suitable for various setups.

4. Which fabric would you say is the most durable?

All of our fabrics are very durable.
Wool is perhaps the most durable fabric. Wool fibers have natural resilience and can endure repeated use and bending. Wool is often used in high-quality upholstery and bedding due to its ability to maintain its shape and resist pilling.

Linen is a close second. Linen fibers are thick and sturdy, making them less prone to wear and tear. They can withstand frequent use and tend to improve in softness and comfort over time.

Cotton fibers are softer and finer than linen and wool, which can make them more susceptible to wear and tear over time. However, the durability of cotton can vary depending on the weave and quality of the fabric. Our 100% organic cotton is certified, durable, and incredibly comfortable. With proper care the fabric can last for decades.

5. Should I use a sheet over the mattress?

Sheets act as a protective layer against sweat and dirt, keeping allergens and bacteria at bay. Sheets are easier to wash than the mattress itself, ensuring a cleaner sleeping space and prolonging your mattress’s lifespan.

6. If I use a synthetic sheet over the wool mattress, would I still be able to experience the benefits of wool?

While it won’t affect the comfort and support the mattress provides, the synthetic sheet can act as a barrier, potentially reducing the benefits of wool. For a more natural sleeping experience without chemicals and toxins, it’s best to go for cotton, wool, silk or linen sheets.

7. Would I feel the tufts?

No, you won’t feel the tufts of the mattress. The mattress’s outer layer is soft, and your body will sink in evenly, ensuring a comfortable and smooth sleeping surface without any noticeable dents or discomfort.

8. Can I use the mattress with an adjustable bed frame?

Wool mattresses are flexible and adaptable, which makes them well-suited for use with adjustable bed frames. The natural elasticity of wool allows the mattress to conform to the contours and movements of the adjustable base, ensuring comfort and support even as the bed position changes.

9. My slats are more than 2” apart. Would this be a problem?

Yes, slats that are more than 2‘‘apart could potentially be a problem. If the slats are too widely spaced, there is a risk that the mattress may sag through, leading to an uneven and uncomfortable sleeping surface. It’s recommended to use slats no wider than 2‘‘ to properly support and maintain the integrity of the mattress.

10. Would I feel the base through the mattress?

No, you won’t feel the base through the mattress if the space between the slats is no more than 2‘‘. Properly spaced slats provide adequate support to the mattress, ensuring a comfortable sleeping surface.

11. I live in a very humid area. Would a wool mattress be suitable for me?

A wool mattress can be an excellent choice for humid environments since wool is naturally a highly breathable material that wicks away moisture and is resistant to mildew and mold.
To improve air circulation and reduce moisture accumulation, consider removing the sheets during the day, exposing the mattress to sunlight, and installing a dehumidifier in the room.

12. Which thickness would you recommend for a stomach/back/side sleeper

Stomach sleepers often benefit from a firm to mid-firm mattress with a thickness ranging from 3‘‘to 5‘‘. This provides adequate support to keep the spine aligned while preventing excessive sinkage in the stomach area.

Back sleepers typically find mid-firm mattresses of 5‘‘ comfortable. This thickness offer enough support to maintain proper spinal alignment while providing some cushioning for comfort.

Side sleepers usually prefer slightly softer mattresses with a thickness of 7‘‘. A thicker mattress can offer better pressure relief for the hips and shoulders, which are common pressure points in this sleeping position.

Having a really "good night" sleep is crucial for a good quality life. My husband and I, we suffer from back pain and I have spend years looking for the right fit for us. We discovered "Home of Wool" 5 years ago when we got our first mattress. Couple of days are needed to get used to the new feeling of sleeping on real wool. After that, it comes the time of never wanting to change your mattress ever in your life. I am an absolute fan of this brand as they have improved my sleep forever. Throughout the years, I got also blankets, pillows, covers... and today we received our first top mattress. We admire the details perfection and their customer service outstanding. Thank you for your work.

I waited a week to make this review. I will first start by saying we love our new mattress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We ordered the mattress with wool covering, wool mattress cover and wool protector….100% wool

It is VERY high quality well made and worth every penny! It was a pricey investment, however, for what you get, it’s a very fair price.

When it first arrived we were excited! We unpackaged it and put it on our bed frame. That night we slept on it and it felt terrible. 🤣 I was rather surprised based on all the good reviews.
Being the American I am, I neglected to read and pay attention to the part that said the bed slats needed to be 2” or less apart. Our bed frame had slots at 5.5” apart. That was the first mistake. I got more slats and now have 1” between each one.

After fixing the slat issue it was better but still not great. I was sore all over. After more online research we put it on the floor and jumped on it, flipped it and jumped on it more, and did it more just because it was so fun pretending to be children…..

After all that, we slept on it and it is perfect! It seems it needs to be broken in and it’s good to go!

I didn’t know about any of the break in stuff, so I wanted to write a review with my experience in case someone else has a similar one.

Very happy with the mattress!!!! Thank you Home of Wool and most importantly the great communication and attention to detail from Krisi!!!
